1991 – Obtained Master of Applied/Fine Arts degree from the Academy, and became a member of ULUPUDS – Association of Fine and Design Artists of Serbia
In the past several years held 20 independent and group exhibits both in Serbia and abroad (enclosed catalog lists all of the exhibits).
Received a number of significant artistic awards at the following exhibitions:
The May Salon, Belgrade – 1989; The Smedby Gallery, Huskvarna, Sweden – 1990 where my work “Process” achieved one of the highest awards during the art week, announced by “Ledere Kultur”; The October Salon , Belgrade – 1992;
The TISO 1992, featured the most outstanding art works of Belgrade painters.
Considering that I come from a country which has experienced many historical and cultural changes, and considering my own nature, my art varies in its techniques and themes. In search of my own expression I look for deeper meanings in the subjects I paint. I obtained my Master of Fine Arts degree in unique textiles with themes dealing with Serbian traditional art, where I succeeded in uniting the traditional and modern in a very original manner, applying my painting techniques to textiles.
The old Eastern disciplines, above all Batik, where my great source of inspiration, and for a long time I searched for the various possibilities of visual expressions in that domain. African mask was also one of the fascinating themes for me as a European painter and I developed personal and direct relationships toward sacred objects. Thus “The Face of the Mask” was created. It was a transposition of my own tradition both in the artistic and psychological way. As one of the art critics stated: “While exploring the world of ritual and initiation of another continent, she establishes the mask’s role as reintegration of death and renewal of life cycle, the transposition of biological and organic into religious.” In the theme the Tea Ceremony I used some distinctive motifs of still life with very different and strong visual dynamics – “A contrast between the atmosphere of dense Rembrandt – like darkness and a natural diffused source of light,”
As another art critic put it, recognizing in it “a respect for a common object, touching without disturbing, which is the essence of art itself”
In my paintings today, which went through the various stages of artistic exploration, I wish to confirm a well established opinion that the external beauty is only one of the conditions for achieving deeper artistic projection.
